2022-2023 School Year

February 28, 2022

As per CDC recommendation and NYS DOH/Suffolk County DHS guidance moving school masking requirements to optional masking, Little Flower School will, upon approval of the board, amend its reopening plan protocols to masks-optional effective Wednesday, March 2, 2022

January 31, 2022

Earlier today, the Appellate Court granted a stay of motion through March 2, which means the mask mandate from the State will be in place until at least that date. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

January 27, 2022

An update provided by legal counsel notes that a court ruling is not expected for several weeks and that during this time, with the stay of order in place, masks shall continue to be required until the time the court makes a ruling.

Thank you for your continued cooperation during this time and updates will continue to be provided here as they develop.

January 26, 2022

The appellate court issued a temporary stay of order against the recent Nassau County Supreme Court ruling, which required all NYS school districts to continue to comply with the mask mandate. Further action from the courts is expected Friday, January 28.

January 26, 2022

Yesterday, the Nassau County Supreme Court ruled against the Governor's mask mandate including for schools. Since that time, NYS has filed an appeal and is expecting a stay to be issued which would maintain the mask mandate during the appeal period.

While we await further guidance on the district's ability to maintain a mask mandate under its reopening plan and/or NYSDOH or SCDHS authority, we shall follow the latest recommendation of NYSED and NYSDOH in keeping our health and safety protocols in place, including a mask requirement for all students, staff, and visitors, until advised further.

As you are aware, New York State is providing rapid test kits to schools to help mitigate the spread of COVID under the Governor's "Winter Surge Plan 2.0." While rapid tests are only a snapshot in time of the presence of COVID, they are a tool in protecting schools and communities. As of 1/3/2022, we have not yet received our testing supplies from NYS.

NOTE: TESTING IS OPTIONAL

Please complete this brief survey only if you wish for your child to be tested by nursing staff IN SCHOOL the day we receive our testing supplies. Alternatively, a test kit can also be made available for parent pickup at the school should you wish to do self-administration at home (one kit per student). Contact the main office at 631-929-4300 to arrange for kit pickup. No kits will be sent home with children, as they are medical devices. You may also contact your home school district for an at-home testing kit.

Please monitor your child for any symptoms and keep children home when sick. Thank you.
