Little Flower School Awarded OMH Mindfulness Grant
Little Flower UFSD was awarded a $55,000 grant to implement a trauma-informed mindfulness program. Known as the NYS Office of Mental Health Mitigating the Impact of Trauma in Schools grant, the funds will allow the school to purchase the Dynamic Mindfulness curriculum, as well as provide training and support to faculty, staff, students, and residential teams to ensure a trauma-informed, common-language approach to helping students address impacts of trauma. Focusing on breathing and movement techniques, the Dynamic Mindfulness program helps students and staff add to their "toolbox" to work successfully through times of crises. This program is an additional option to The Sanctuary Model and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention models already implemented by the school and residential program.
